Mrs. Raskin joined the Guidance Staff at Amity Middle School in 1985 after working as the Director of the Consortium for Youth, a federally funded program for juvenile delinquency prevention. Prior to that, she was the Assistant Director of Counseling at Niagara University.
Since she has been at the Middle School, she has been involved in many activities. Mrs. Raskin has helped to develop the Peer Counseling Program, the Peer Mediation Program, the Student Study Team, and the Student Assistance Team. She collaborates with the Support Staff to help promote a middle school philosophy, and she is a member of the Middle School Renewal Committee, the Student Study Team, the Planning and Placement Team, and the Crisis Resource Team. She helps facilitate groups for students on adolescent issues and enjoys talking with students individually.
In her spare time, Mrs. Raskin enjoys many activities. She plays golf, takes yoga classes, travels, works out at the gym, cooks, and reads. As you can see, her life is active and busy, but what makes it most complete are her husband and two sons!
Mrs. Raskin earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Queens College, and a Masters and Sixth Year Degree from Niagara University. She was named Teacher of the Year in 1989 and was the recipient of the Gold Pen Award in 2002. |
